What is gold-filled?
Gold-filled jewelry is made by bonding a thick layer of gold to a base metal core, typically brass or copper. Gold-plated jewelry, on the other hand, is made by electroplating a thin layer of gold onto a base metal core. The layer of gold used in gold-plated jewelry is typically only 0.05% of the item’s total weight, making it less durable and prone to tarnishing over time.
